My Paris Favorites - January 30, 2024

Bonjour bonjour!

I'm back home after an incredible 10-day adventure in New York. The cold was brutal, but the snow in Central Park was absolutely breathtaking. I even attempted to ice skate! (Let's just say I didn't quite master it, haha).

This weekend, the Marais neighborhood in Paris hosted a fantastic vintage fair on Rue de Bretagne. In my opinion, it's THE best vintage fair in Paris, and it only happens twice a year. There were so many fantastic vintage finds. I ended up only purchasing some beautiful jewelry, and believe it or not, not even for myself! I took on the responsibility of picking out pieces for a longtime friend who doesn't reside in Paris.

 My inspirations of the moment

All my current aspirations seem to revolve around one thing – food! I've been happily immersed in browsing recipes and indulging in food videos ☺. Here's the top-notch content that I stumbled upon:

Crepes: On February 2nd, we celebrate 'La Chandeleur,' also known as the day of crepes – and it happens to be my birthday too! Instead of a traditional birthday cake, I opt for the joy of crepes each year. For an excellent recipe in English, I highly recommend David Lebovitz's buckwheat crepe recipe.

Breakfast: I came across this jaw-dropping video from the Paris Palace Cheval Blanc showcasing their breakfast. Needless to say, I'm adding it to my must-try list!

Raclette: With winter in full swing, Raclette has become the best weekend meal in France. This article, from a US blogger living in France, provides a guide on how to make raclette, no matter where you are in the world!

❤️ My latest favorites in Paris

Last December, I visited the newly renovated Madeleine Church after a thorough two-year restoration. The architecture is simply captivating, paired with a fascinating history. This visit sparked my curiosity, leading me to discover that many Parisian churches offer free guided tours. In the coming year, I plan to explore several of these churches to uncover more about their intriguing histories.

While most tours are in French, Saint-Sulpice offer guided visits in English. It's a truly remarkable church. For those fluent in French, I suggest a special tour of the upper parts (available every 4th Saturday of the month). I took this tour last summer: you get to explore hidden ancient rooms and step out onto a terrace with a breathtaking view of Paris.
